1. WHAT IS COMIC EXPRESS?

Comic Express studio produces a variety of comic material including existing and commissioned art work. Reprint and commissioned work is offered in 6 main areas: illustration, gag cartoons, comic strips, flash animation, caricatures, comic logos, clip art and puzzles. Comic Express specialises in designing and creating images to suit the individual needs of each client. We assist customers by offering the unique service of matching styles to images in order to create the desired look they are after. Back to the top.

2. CAN I COPY ARTWORK FROM YOUR SITE?

No. Without permission you may not copy or use any art form from this or any other web site. If you don’t understand, please read the COPYRIGHT page. Back to the top.

3. WILL YOU TRADE LINKS WITH ME?

No. We do not have a links page. Any links from the Comic Express website to another website is at the discretion of Comic Express. Back to the top.

4. CAN I USE YOUR IMAGES FOR MY PROJECT?

Yes. Our images are available for reprint use, provided a fee is paid, in Newsletters, Presentations, Magazines, Advertising, Brochures, Books, Websites, Newspapers, Cartoon Packages for Newspapers, Licensing and other projects. Back to the top.

5. DO I HAVE TO PAY TO USE THE IMAGES FOR IN-HOUSE NEWSLETTERS,MEMOS, BULLETINS, ETC ?

Yes. We charge a fee to use our images. We offer reasonable rates and provide frequency discounts if you order three or more images. Please understand that the images are our business’ product and if we gave away free usage rights we would not have a product to sell. To find out prices please click on this RATES link. 6. I AM A NON-PROFIT, RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION, CHARITY OR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION.
MAY I USE THE IMAGES FREE OF CHARGE?

No. We are unable to provide free usage of our images. We offer discounts to educational and non-profit organizations such as yours, but we cannot accommodate requests for free material.
To get a price on reprints, click the RATES link. To order commissioned work click on the QUOTE/ORDER FORM link and select Non-profit for Type of business.
Please understand that the images are our business’ product and if we gave away free usage rights we would not have a product to sell. Back to the top.

7. I AM A STUDENT OR TEACHER. DOESN’T COPYRIGHT LAW ALLOW FOR FREE USAGE?

Under Australian and International Copyright laws the creator of any image or creative work has exclusive ownership and control of how that creative work may or may not be used. Permission, written or oral, must be given by the creator for use of it in any circumstance. Free use is at the discretion of the creator. Permission will usually involve a monetary fee for usage of creative work. In this explanation, Comic Express is the creator. For further information please click the COPYRIGHT link. 8. CAN I USE YOUR IMAGES ON MY WEB SITE OR INTRANET SITE?

Yes, provided a fee is paid. Please see special prices for the web on the RATES page.

9. CAN I USE YOUR IMAGES FOR FREE ON MY WEBSITE IF I GIVE YOU PROPER ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND LINKS?

No. There is no free usage except at the discretion of Comic Express. Permission must be given for use of images. Back to the top.

10. I’M READY TO ORDER IMAGES OR GET A QUOTE. WHAT DO I DO NEXT?

Click on the RATES link to find out prices for Reprints (existing images).
Click on the QUOTE/ORDER FORM link to order Reprints or find out prices for commissioned (original) work or to order commissioned work. Back to the top.

11. HOW DO I FIND AND SELECT THE IMAGES I WISH TO USE?

a. Look at the Galleries on our website for samples of images under eight main categories i.e. Illustration, Gag Cartoons, Comic Strips, Clip Art, Comic Logos, Puzzles, Caricatures and Animations.
b. Use the Search feature on the ARCHIVES page. This feature includes the option of choosing a specific category from the eight main categories mentioned above. Alternatively, you can do a broad based search of the ARCHIVES by not choosing a specific category and thereby creating a general search.
c. Go to the SELECT A STYLE page which will help you with choosing a style suitable for your project. These styles can be applied to any images you see on our website or any images you want created through commissioned work. Alternatively, if the styles on this page are not suitable for your project, you may choose from any style you see on our website for your project. Back to the top.

12. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY CARTOONS ONCE I PLACE MY ORDER?

The time taken will depend on what type of image you order as well as the quantity of images you order. Reprints will obviously not take as long as original customised images.
Generally, once we receive your order and have all the information we need to process the order, the turn-around time for reprints will be within 24 hours.
The time taken for commissioned work will depend on the size and complexity of the work ordered and therefore will need to be worked out on an individual basis.
Urgent orders are available by phoning (061) 07 3366 9706. Commissioned work will incur an additional fee which will be negotiated at the time of ordering. Back to the top.

13. DO I NEED TO PAY FOR IMAGES AT THE TIME OF ORDERING?

For Reprints the answer is YES. We will email you an invoice upon receipt of your order. Images will then be sent to you upon receipt of payment.

For Commissioned work the answer is one of three options.
• full payment at the time of ordering
• a deposit at the time of ordering
• payment after the work is completed

In other words, payment will be negotiated at the time of ordering as part of the commissioning process.

Payments can easily be made with credit card through PAYPAL using the links on the Comic Express website. Back to the top.

14. DO I NEED TO SEND YOU MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION?

No. Please do not send credit card information. Card payments are to be made only through the PAYPAL link on our site. When you click on the PAYPAL link you will then be connected to this secure site. Back to the top.

15. IN WHAT FILE FORMAT WILL THE IMAGES BE SENT?

We normally send high resolution Tifs for print and presentations. Jpegs are also available. If you prefer Tifs, please specify whether you need a Mac or PC formatted file. For web based images, we send low resolution Gifs. If you prefer Jpegs for the web please specify with your order. Files can also be provided as program specific files if required egs photoshop psd file, photopaint cpt file. Please refer to the QUOTE/ORDER FORM which asks you to click on the specific file format you require. Back to the top.

16. WHAT SIZE WILL THE IMAGES BE?

The standard sizing of images is 300-600 dpi. If your sizing requirements are different to the standard size, this request can be accommodated, and this may or may not affect costing, depending on the nature of your project and the use of the image(s).

Resizing of images such as Reprints can affect the quality of the image. If the quality of the image is compromised in any way then the image would have to redone. Obviously, the extra time taken and labour needed to redraw and process a Reprint from scratch are factors that would have to be taken into account when costing is being worked out at the time of ordering.

17. HOW DO I GET THE IMAGES?

You have three main options:

• Email using the appropriate electronic format
• CD using the appropriate electronic format
• Hard copy print via mail

These three options are found on the QUOTE/ORDER form.

A fourth option is also possible:

• FTP server upload, providing address is supplied.

18. CAN I GET ANY OF THE IMAGES I SEE ON THE WEBSITE IN A DIFFERENT SHADING OR COLOUR?

Yes. There are three (3) options available:

• Black and White
• Colour
• Dotscreen/Greyscale

If you wish to purchase an image on the Comic Express website in a different shading or colour to the original, then go the yellow REPRINT section of the QUOTE/ORDER form and in the “Description of use of image(s)” section make your colouring request known.
This may or may not affect costing of your order, depending on the complexity of your request. Most simple requests will be factored into the price. This is at the discretion of Comic Express. Back to the top.

19. DO YOU LICENSE YOUR CARTOONS FOR USE ON PRODUCTS?

Yes. We make our cartoons and images available for use on most products.
You can request Reprint or Commissioned images for use on products.
We can modify Reprints if needed to make them suitable for your product or again, we can create new images specifically for your products.

Any use of Comic Express images for commercial products will involve a licensing agreement. This must be undertaken with both parties agreement prior to any use of Comic Express images. Back to the top.

20. CAN I GET A SIGNED PRINT OF MY FAVOURITE CARTOON OR IMAGE?

Yes, for a fee the artist will personalize any of our cartoons or images. Signed prints make great gifts for all occasions. If you are looking for something specific for a gift, let us know a little about the person’s hobbies and interests and we can suggest some cartoons or images that would be suitable. 21. CAN I PURCHASE AN ORIGINAL CARTOON/COMIC STRIP/ILLUSTRATION/CLIP ART PACKAGE/PUZZLE/
LOGO/CARICATURE OR ANIMATION?

Yes! Comic Express specializes in creating original work in all of the above areas.
